Being 40

What a glorious sunny day it is.. a bit windy but beautifully fresh. As I was outside power walking around the Aquadrome this morning, I started reflecting.

ToMorrow I will be 40: an age that I was dreading, because I don’t like the idea of getting older! Ha ha. But then I started to think actually how lucky I am to even to get to 40 as some people don’t. And then I started thinking how I have changed as a person and how my ethos has changed so much too.

As most of you know I have been a personal trainer and well-being coach for many many years now – and infact I have been in the fitness industry for 20 years now! Blimey.

But the interesting thing is, in my 20s and predominantly most of my 30s my focus was very much about exercising and eating well to look good and being slim and fit. But now my ethos has changed. I am very much of the mindset now that exercising and eating healthily is of paramount importance to be healthy and have fab wellbeing and not just about what you look like. Yes we all want to look good but health is definitely my no 1 priority.

When I was younger I never really thought of my health so much. But now I am a mummy and I’m getting older, my health is a priority. Because as we know our health is now our wealth. As without your health you have nothing.

So I am now reflecting on being 40 tomorrow as a positive stance. To be 40 and improving my health. Stress takes a huge hit to our health and many of us are Over stressed because of every day occurrences to do with work and family and life etc. But then once you add on a difficult life changing event ( like losing a job, divorce, a death, a serious health challenge) this can really notch up our stress levels more and can cause a weakened immune system and health challenges.

The last couple of years have not all been plain sailing for me because of significant life events and consequently I have had huge health challenges…. but since I have started implementing more fresh raw juices into my regime over the last year my health is finally turning around and the challenges I once had I can now wave goodbye too.

So the last few years have taught me a lot about stress and how it impacts our health massively. And infact being fit and looking good is not always quite enough. Sometimes we really need to start looking at our health and changing what we put into our bodies. To be fair my diet was always pretty healthy because of my pt and nutritional background… but sometimes the body needs to be flooded with raw goodness from fruits and vegetables to heal…

So tomorrow when I wake up to my 40th birthday I am going to start my day with my mean green juice with a huge smile and be grateful for my new found health and wellbeing.

My vocation in life is to cheerful inspire all those around me to look after themselves and love themselves and be kind to themselves.

So my one major tip is to start adding some juicing into your life to get a plethora of vitamins and minerals into your bodies on a daily basis. Just one juice a day will start helping your body to feel more alive and then hopefully being 40 will still feel like being 30!
