The Positive Living Club raises £2,000 for Breast Cancer Care by running a Barbie BBQ for the local community

Yay we have successfully raised £2,000 from our first charity event.
I initially set up the Positive Living Club to help make a difference in the community and it seems to be working - yay. Our club is forever developing and we now have a ‘committee group’ of 6 ladies: Myself, Louise Williamson, Andrea Pione, Andrea Gill, Larissa Innes and Priya Talwar all are working together to organise and run fun and exciting charity events within the local community, to help raise money for Breast Cancer Care.
We held our first family charity event (a Barbie BBQ) on Saturday 24 th September, at the Round Bush Pub, Aldenham. We were hoping to raise £1,000 from this event and so were absolutely delighted when we realised that we had doubled our target! Yay.
The Barbie BBQ was a super-fun family afternoon. We had lots of lovely fun games and stalls to keep the children happy, including a bouncy castle, face painting, a fancy dress competition, as well as cake stalls, jewellery and craft stalls. The pub landlord, Alan Villiers, then lit the BBQ and introduced the live band who performed a string of fab cover songs. we also held a wonderful raffle and auction with the fabulous prizes that had been donated to us. We were incredibly lucky as many of our friends, family and the community locals came to support our day. Everyone was incredibly generous and, more importantly, they had a fabulous time. The glorious weather certainly helped too.
We are now concentrating our efforts on the sponsored walk we have organised, where everyone will be dressed in Halloween costumes. This will be held on October 30 th and we are currently looking for people to take part in the 10km walk around Cassiobury Park, Watford, to raise more money for this super charity.
