Back in May this year I set up the Positive Living Club for women, to help inspire positive living and promote positivity throughout the community, whilst raising money for Breast Cancer Care. I absolutely love running the sessions and nothing gives me greater joy than raising money for a fab charity whilst helping others feel more positive. Yay. Back in July this year i was approached by Breast Cancer Care to see if i would be a Hertfordshire Fundraising Group leader for Breast Cancer Care and having once decided that i would accept this lovely position, I wanted to set myself and the Positive Living Club a target of raising £5000 by Christmas. And guess what?! We have very excitingly now smashed our target of raising £5000 for Breast Cancer Care by Christmas and have already raised nearly £6000 from our charity events. Yippee.
Our club is continually growing and we now have a ‘committee group’ of 8 ladies: Louise Williamson, Andrea Pione, Andrea Gill, Larissa Innes, Priya Talwar, Vicky Price Cristina Ferraz and of course myself. All of us are working together to organise and run fun and exciting charity events within the local community, to help raise money for Breast Cancer Care, a wonderful charity, providing support for people affected by breast cancer, as well as their family and friends.
Last weekend we held our second charity event , a Halloween-themed 10k walk in Cassiobury Park on Sunday 30 th of October. We were hoping to raise £2500 from this event and are absolutely delighted as we have actually raised over £3500. Yay –well done lovely walkers. And well done to Andrea Pione for putting together such a super event.
The Halloween-themed walk was super fun. There were approximately 35 of us all dressed up, walking the park and woods to raised money for this super charity. We all had so much fun and we were very lucky that the weather stayed nice for us. The two ladies that raised over £400 each were Rachel Maynard and Amanda Ward both who won a fabulous spa day voucher kindly donated by UD Salon, Croxley Green. Bev Walker and Amanda Ward both won prizes for the best costumes. My lovely husband’s company – Meades & Co once again sponsored us and brought all the walkers ‘nakd’ healthy snack bars to have after the walk too. Bless my husband. After the walk we all headed off to the Rising Sun pub for a well deserved drink.
